There are studies of iontophoresis ocular safety in which a DC current of up to 4mA was applied to the eye for 20 minutes. This was used to administer a drug to the inner eye. An exam was then given using several tests, and no damage was found. This is 10 times the current we are typically using. And 20 minutes is average for a cold we could test against.

However, that was just one test after one usage. If there was damage that showed up later, it was not tested. Repeated use
was not tested.

The brain was tested in a study about cognitive (learning) improvement using DC current on the frontal lobes to stimulate
mental activity. No adverse affects were reported, but the test was not run for a long time, so longer range effects were
again not possible to judge.

For now, let’s not use it near the eyes if we can avoid that. In future there may be further tests done in medical community.
In the meantime, unless you have some very strong reason and a lot to gain, there’s no need to use it on the brain or eyes. Keep
the pads low on the face, no higher than underneath the cheekbones and it should be ok on either side of the nose by itself for cold germs.

We will find out more as this person discontinues the device around the eyes and uses nutritional supplements to see if the condition ceases to get worse. I will keep you informed how this goes. There are currently no symptoms, the night vision is fine, etc.
